12th Annual Rudolph’s Reindeer Dash 5K raises $20,000 for Junior League of Martin County
Racers joined in the fun on December 5 at the 12th Annual Rudolph’s Reindeer Dash 5k, which this year took place both virtually and in person with precautions at Memorial Park in Historic Downtown Stuart.
Over 374 participants took part in the highly anticipated event, helping to raise over $20,000. Proceeds will help support the JLMC’s programs that improve the local community, including support for The Children's Museum, Martin County School District, United Way White Doves Holiday Project, Gertrude Walden Center, Hibiscus Children’s Center, and more.
This year’s race followed all CDC guidelines for a safe and healthy event, with the first ever virtual option.
“Planning the event during the COVID-10 pandemic was certainly a challenge we haven’t faced before, but thanks to the hard work of our volunteers and the support of our participants, this year’s race was a safe, fun and successful start to the holiday season,” said Sara Steinhauer, who co-chaired the event with Andi McAvoy. “We are grateful and excited to have raised $22,187, which will have a direct impact on improving the lives of children and families in Martin County.”
Organizers are already looking forward to the 2021 Reindeer Dash, which will take place on December 4, 2021.
“Junior League's Reindeer Dash is an event we look forward to each year,” said racer Gretchen Abell, who took first place in the female open division. “This has become to be one of our favorite traditions- kids, friends and family all included. There's a way for everyone to enjoy the race and kick off the holiday season!”
