Dear Friends,
Our League Year officially kicked off this past week, with Sunset at Sailor's! It was a fabulous evening of reconnection and fun with our fellow members and friends. And the night's sunset did not disappoint! Thank you, Laura Baird, and the Membership Committee for coordinating this event.
I mentioned last month that our Board of Directors and Management Team have been hard at work these past few months planning for the upcoming year. In this new year, we are grounding our efforts in member recruitment, education, and engagement, while clarifying our impact initiatives.
I am so pleased to share that we have already had a number of new members and transfers join our League this summer. Welcome Alex Adams, Samantha Conway, Morgan Karr, Leslie Fidler, Joanna Mangan, Brooke Martson and Roxanna Scaffidi! We are absolutely thrilled to have you and we can't wait to get to know each of you more throughout this upcoming year! We will welcome our newest members at the start of each monthly GMM.
There is a lot of information in this month's newsletter. If email isn't your thing, you can also read our monthly newsletters in the Member News page of our website. I hope, by now, you have learned that we are moving away from Basecamp and taking advantage of all of the features that our mobile-friendly website has to offer. If you haven't already, please do take some time to explore the pages available in the Member Area, including news, calendar events, committee announcements, resources, our league photo gallery, and more.
I cannot wait to see you all at our first General Membership Meeting (GMM) of the year, on September 19. Please RSVP for the meeting online.
Gratefully,
Taylor Gilmour, MPP, CFRE
President

We are returning to monthly General Membership Meetings (GMM), starting on September 19. The entire year's GMM's are now available on the Member Calendar. We invite you to start saving the dates so you don't miss out on all the fun! Please note that GMM's will be a value-add experience for all members. Each month, we will use this time together to complete community projects, participate in training opportunities, hear from community leaders, and more. As always, we'll start each GMM with a brief social. We look forward to connecting with you at the next GMM!
Our Junior League's 15th Annual Rudolph's Reindeer Dash 5k and 10k will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Memorial Park in downtown Stuart. This annual fundraising event would not be a success without our sponsors, and we need YOUR help securing sponsorships. Proceeds of this signature event support our Junior League's community projects and programs. Click here to see/print our sponsor packet. Organizations can also complete a sponsorship form onilne on the 5k event page here.
Check out all of our organization's resources, like our member roster, budget, bylaws, reimbursement form, leadership contact information, AJLI Facebook Groups and so much more! Another fun new addition to this page of our Member Area is our League Gallery!
View our JLMC Photo Gallery here. If this is your first time accessing the gallery, please submit a request when prompted. Your request will be approved shortly. When viewing the gallery, select the "grid view" button on the upper right to see the pictures as icons rather than a file list. To submit photos to the gallery, email your pictures to communications@jlmcflorida.org with the name and date of the JLMC activity where the pictures were taken.
JLMC offers reimbursements to active members for qualified expenses throughout the year. If you ever use personal funds for JL expenses, please complete the Reimbursement Form stored on the JLMC Resources page of our Member Area, and secure the necessary signatures before submitting to treasurer@jlmcflorida.org. Checks are issued on the 15th and 30th of each month.
All reimbursements must be submitted within 60 days of the expense, or on May 30th of our fiscal year, whichever is sooner. Please note that it's not expected that any member uses their own funds for JL expenses. Vendor invoices can be submitted directly to treasurer@jlmcflorida.org.
Through hands-on training and formal learning opportunities we will give members the skills needed to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve. To continue the Junior League's tradition of identifying problems and finding solutions in a collaborative way, our League aligns with AJLI to prioritize our efforts. We focus our community projects, training opportunities, fundraising, and advocacy on initiatives that fall into our impact areas: (1) Women; (2) Children; and (3) Civic Leadership. Let us know what initiatives you're most interested in by completing the survey here.
SURVEY: Member Education and Training
Our mission is to train and create leaders in our community. What skills/topics do you want to cultivate to become the best version of yourself and the leader you were meant to become? Let us know how we can shape learning opportunities to meet your interests by completing the survey here.

The Membership Committee planned a wonderful Meet & Mingle recruitment event to attract new prospective members and educate them about our League. It was a rainy, rainy Sunday afternoon, but that didn't stop us from having a great time. We had around 8 prospective members attend, a few of whom have already joined our membership! Stay tuned for more recruitment events throughout the year. We hope to see you at our next event so you can help prospective new members learn about what makes JLMC so great! View photos from the event here.
Our league year kicked off last week at our annual kickoff party! Planned by our Membership Committee, this fun night provided us an opportunity to reconnect with friends and fellow Leaguers. This event was open to active and sustaining members as well as potential new members. We even had a new transfer member join us. Welcome, Alex! View photos from the event here.

League Success Manager
We are excited to share that AJLI has created League Success Managers (LSM) for all leagues. Our League's assigned LSM is a dedicated professional who will serve as a liaison, ambassador, resource, and educator between AJLI and JLMC. Her primary purpose is to provide unwavering support and guidance as we navigate the path to success. We are very optimistic that our new LSM will help connect the greater AJLI mission and resources with our League's strategic efforts at the local level.
Lean In Circles
We are also thrilled to announce the launching of Lean In Circles, in partnership with AJLI and Lean In. These small peer groups will focus on skill building, connection, and networking across all Junior Leagues! Topics covered during the Circles will range from work-life balance to negotiation strategy to inclusive leadership. This is a great tool to further our mission of advancing women's leadership and also to connect with members worldwide. Click Here to register.
