WHAT WE DO
The Junior League of Martin County (JLMC) acts as a catalyst for positive change in Martin County through advocacy, direct service, public education and fundraising. We provide resources, knowledge and funding through the training, education and volunteerism of our members. The JLMC serves as a much-needed volunteer resource and improves communities through partnerships with numerous non-profit organizations. We seek to meet community needs and work passionately to address a wide variety of issues. Our signature fundraising event helps us fund our projects to ensure lasting, positive change. Current projects include:
JLMC Cares This program allows the JLMC the opportunity to work with local non-profit organizations, community events, and individual community members. The League assists with a variety of projects that can be completed in one day, ensuring volunteers quickly respond to community needs. The League typically helps staff events by providing hands-on leadership and assistance to people attending programs or hosting our events, such as reading books to area youth. During the 2015-2016 League year, JLMC members will host a book drive for new teachers teaching grades K-7 in Martin County, holding a holiday bike drive to benefit the United Way White Doves Holiday Project in partnership with Zweben Law Firm (Nov. 2015), cleaning up Pendarvis Park in Palm City as part of Keep Martin Beautiful in September, and more.
Hibiscus Children’s Center The JLMC is teaming up with Hibiscus Children’s Center, an organization dedicated to providing safety for abused, abandoned and neglected children through prevention programs, residential programs, shelter programs, and recovery programs. JLMC members will coordinate a fun-filled day of pampering for the kids in February 2016.
